From September 20th to 23rd, Gallery Rin will be hosting an exhibition of Okinawan textiles at my traditional crafts gallery. If any of you are interested, I would be happy to guide you to the event.
Ryo Abe has been selected for this year’s 71st Japan Traditional Craft Exhibition. He is also featured in the latest issue of the popular kimono magazine, “Kimono Bizin Autumn Edition”, in a special article titled “Contemporary Katazome Dyeing Artists Directory.”
Are you familiar with Okinawa’s Bingata dyeing? It’s a traditional dyeing technique characterized by bright and vivid colors, much like the natural beauty of Okinawa. Ryo Abe is a leading artist in this field. In this exhibition, we will showcase and offer for sale new obi sashes and kimono, as well as other high-quality kimono pieces, all at prices accessible to our customers. The collection includes kimono and obi.
Additionally, for those who do not wear kimonos, we have prepared various dyed small items, such as hand towels, framed works, tapestries, and postcards.
The artist is present at the gallery during the exhibition.
