December 3rd (Tuesday) "Obanzai with Tobe Ware" Event Announcement

Updated: Nov 19

October 31, 2024 - News Exhibition/Event

Tobe ware is a type of pottery made from stone used to sharpen blades, making it highly durable. Each piece is crafted by hand with warmth and care by artisans. We are holding an Obanzai gathering to allow everyone to use Tobe ware firsthand and to experience its unique charm. “Obanzai” is a traditional style of Japanese home-cooked dishes originating from Kyoto. The term refers to simple, seasonal, and nutritious side dishes made with locally available ingredients. Obanzai emphasizes minimal waste and often incorporates leftovers or small amounts of vegetables, tofu, or seafood into delicious and well-balanced meals. It reflects the Japanese values of frugality, seasonality, and respect for food.

Feedback from Past Participants:

“It was a truly enjoyable and meaningful time, and I was completely satisfied. Meeting people of various generations allowed me to gain insights into parenting, obtaining certifications, and volunteering. Each participant’s wonderful personality shone brightly, and the gentle atmosphere was so comforting. I was feeling anxious about feeding my baby, but this event encouraged me to try different foods, which my child happily ate when others offered it. Today's menu was a wonderful blend of flavors that all ages could enjoy, and it may have encouraged my son to eat more eagerly.”

“Thank you for preparing such a lovely space despite the busy schedule. I am grateful to have shared this experience with wonderful people, enjoying delicious food on beautiful plates. I look forward to participating again next time.”

“As a parent, I often find myself focused only on immediate tasks, but this Obanzai gathering was a breath of fresh air, filled with inspiring people, beautiful dishes, and delicious food. It enriched my mind and shifted my perspective. Through beauty, good food, and meaningful interactions, I realized areas for personal growth. Thank you for such a precious time. I was initially nervous, but thanks to the welcoming environment and sharing matcha tea with others, I felt relaxed and inspired to learn tea ceremony.”

“I was soothed by the little ones who were around the same age as my grandchild!”
